Meet the Publican: Intern Edition

Interns, they are so much more than the antiquated coffee runner, errand do-er that they used to be! We are so excited to welcome our Creative Team’s newest addition, Jacob and Kira, to the Publican family. They both bring their unique creative abilities and quirky personalities to the table, tackling much more than your average intern! Get to know each of them a little bit better below.

Meet the Publican: Jacob

1. What did you want to be when you were little?

I spent many early years wanting to work for the WWF, then a stint of time dreaming about being a Turkey Farmer. Shortly after that I was convinced I was going to open a reptile shop, then in succession, I considered becoming a Nuclear Physicist, Philosopher, Novelist and Clinical Psychologist. I settled on being productive with my imagination and went into Advertising.

2. If you were a dog, what kind would you be?

The kind spelt with an “a” and a “w”.

3. What’s something weird about you?

Weirdness is creativity without discipline. Discipline is important, creativity is vital and weirdness is not. If that statement seems weird, I may have subverted my point.

4. What social impact issue means a lot to you?

Kids from broken homes. I was blessed with a really stable household and two loving parents, a lot of people aren’t as lucky and some come from really tough situations. I enjoy working at kids camps that take kids from high risk or troubled situations.

5. What’s your favourite thing about Public?

The Publicans. I get to think beside really fascinating creative men and women from whom I can learn a lot. What more could I ask for?

Meet the Publican: Kira

1. What’s your guilty pleasure/vice?

Trying to keep the list short, I need memes on the daily and a healthy dose of chocolate. Anything. I can’t say no to strawberry flavoured candies, and rerun episodes of Law & Order: SVU.

2. Do you have a hidden talent?

I’m an Ikea furniture pro assembler, double-dutch master, and (without bragging) you would definitely want me on your team for Trivial Pursuit.

3. What Harry Potter house would you be placed in?

Like HP himself, I feel that Gryffindor is the right house for me, but in my heart I know that I’m a Slytherin.

4. What social impact issue means a lot to you?

I care about many issues, so narrowing down the list has been difficult. I am passionate about all creatures, so human rights and animal welfare are pretty big for me. Patient access to safe medication and Indigenous Rights are close to my heart.

5. What’s your favourite thing about Public?

The people, the projects, the passion felt on the floor, and (of course) the food. I’ve been eating very well since I’ve joined the team. Oh yeah! Dogs! I love the doggies that roam our office.
