Meet the Publican: Lauren
This week on the yellow couch… we’re sitting down with Lauren, Public’s practiced and polished Project Manger! While she’s been with us for a few months now, we still haven’t yet had a chance to sit down and get to all about her, so we took a break to get her to answer all our important questions. Learn all about her, below!
1. What social impact issue means a lot to you?
I really can’t pick just one. I’ll talk up a storm on international and local community development, gender equality, indigenous rights, and the climate/environmental crisis.
2. What’s your favourite thing about working at PUBLIC?
That we all collectively find joy and contentment in making the world a better place. Cheesy, but true. Also, there’s always fab cheese to be found at the office, or just around the corner at the St. Lawrence Market.
3. What animal do you most identify with?
The otter! Not only is my cottage – on Otter Lake – my favourite place (more on that later), but the otter is my totem animal too (I drew the otter medicine card when I was with friends in Vancouver last summer). Just like the otter, I’m determined (see: working at Public), a problem solver (see: Project Manager), and a bit of a chatterbox (see: social impact issues). I’m also a master swimmer.
4.What’s your favourite place?
My cottage. I’ve travelled a lot, but keep coming home to this special place. Its sights (the windswept pines, the pink granite, the changing colour of the water), smells (the fresh air and the fireplace smoke) and sounds (the forlorn call of the loon and the trains whistling in the distance) make me happy.
5. What Harry Potter house would you be placed in?
Ideally, Gryffindor. I’m sure everyone says that. Honestly? Hufflepuff. I’m pretty nice.
